CHAPTER 1
Temari stumbled into her one bedroom apartment, bone tired. She had worked for eight hours, and eight hours too many. Though barely fourteen, she had to work for her own food, rent and other necessities. Orphaned since the first year of her life, Temari had lived by herself, holding onto life by the frail string of hope and survival. She had little friends, making her more independent, and didnt communicate with people outside the village she lived in. No relativies called her, no one looked after her, and only the solitary kitchen she stood in accompanied her.
Sighing heavily as she trudged to the microwave, Temari heated a bowl of instant rice. She had been dieting (not by her own choice) on instant ramen and rice for days on end, since her pay was low an the rent was high. Snapping a pair of chopsticks out, she pulled her mask away from her face and ate her food gingerly when a buzz came from her pocket.
"-come in sections 4, 23, and 7. We have a first degree situation at town hall. The mayor has been taken and held hostage. I repeat, sections 4, 23, and 7, come at once." a radio barked at her when she pulled the device out. She hadnt finished her meal or got any rest, which ticked her off despite the fact the mayor was in danger.
She recovered her belt, looped with knives and specialty items, and pulled her mask back on to cover her face. The reason she hid the lower part of her face was to hide the mysterious markings that made her unique.
Two spirals crawled up her cheeks and had delicate details that had been there for as long as she could remember. She hid one with her blonde hair, the other with the mask so that the markings wouldnt have her bullied.
She ran, faster than a commoner could, through the apartment complex and into the cities streets. Mobs of people were turned away from her, gasping at the scene before them. The mayor's throat was being watched with a deadly knife, the men behind him grinning evily. Temari glared and bounced through the crowd, parting the people as her only friend, Damian, approached her quickly.
"What does he want?" she asked, huffing in adrenaline and exertion.
Damians eyes looked at her like a sea at storm and griminced.
"He hasnt said yet. We are worried when he's going to make a move." he informed her, his voice muffled by his mask.
She respected Damian more than anyone, since he had scars of something mysterious underneath his own mask. She felt like he understood her because of the perplexing marks. Something bound her to him that she didnt realize. And this something was the reason the mayor had been kidnapped, and why she hadnt been good with others. The fate of her life and the lives of the people around her were determined with the next words of the kidnapper:
"Bring Tamari, protector of the Wood, and Damian, Succesor of the Sea to me, or your mayor and this city will be no more."
Ok the first chapter is a little slow, but there will be wayy more action and twist in the rest of the series. Comment if you want the second part!
