She's sitting in the bathroom
Alone and so afraid
Opening the secret box
She finds her trusty blade
She doesn't want to do it
But it's all she's ever known
She finds a way to close the box
And carry on alone
He sees the golden nectar
Swirling with the ice
To have its sweet taste on his lips
Would surely feel so nice
An answer to his problems
A way to numb the pain
Instead he somehow makes the choice
Sober to remain
You say that we are hopeless
It's attention that we seek
That we just need to get over it
That we're tired or we're weak
How dare you look upon us
And say that we're not strong
The struggles that you sometimes face
We battle all day long
Pain, despair, and loneliness
Hopelessness and fear
We've been raped, abandoned, beat
Left with no one there
So next time you look at us
And wonder why we break
Know an hour in our shoes
Is more than you could take
