In memory of Sarah Hancock who passed 18th September 2012, aged 35...
Cancer is a lonely place,
Deeply personal and full of fears,
Painful and destructive,
Emotionally devastating,
Indiscriminate and unbiased.
Cancer resonates and rings true,
A death knell to all who hear,
Those closest feel the brunt,
The tug of life pulling away,
Loss unimaginable now apparent.
Cancer comes from within,
Exits where it chooses,
Tears away all pleasantries,
Rearranges priorities and
Leaves you speechless, exhausted.
Cancer is just a word,
To some that means everything,
Like no other word,
Hushly spoken, broken,
Hanging by a thread, lived.
Cancer is without argument,
Bitter, twisted, blistered,
Shit filled and full of fury,
Beguiled, battled and
Another life won.
