Dazed, I lay on my bed
Wondering whats happening in my head.
Things turn out very different when
You sit,ponder and look within
So I closed my eyes and dreamt of a land
Far away from where I am.
It was dark and quiet
No movement, not a sound
But my ears perked up when I heard whispers
Hushed,secretive... It came from on top of a mound!
So,stealth I do befriend
And walk over to the tiny bend
The mound was modest in stature
Not too large,not to mediocre
On top stood two stout men,
Rather funny in appearance
One wore a bulbous hat that was bigger than him
The other wore a strange jumpsuit and looked grim
I stifled a laugh, but it was too late
They saw me like I was bait
They flashed a terrible smile at me
Revealing sharp crooked teeth and tongues that were slimy
I ran for my life, without looking back
And wished and wished with all my might
To be in a land with no terror and spite
And the next step I took, the grass was green
The roses and tulips were lush, beautiful
And the birds preen
I was in my definition of paradise
Not a speck of dirt,no vermin,no mice
This was wear I wanted to be for the rest of my life
But soon,my cerebrum brought about
An unfortunate twist that involved thorns and a knife!
The roses weren't rose-y
The tulips were no more tulip-y,
Ugly,thorny creepers engulfed them,
And my shoeless feet began to bleed.
A little girl,in a torn white gown comes up to me
Her face innocent and harmless,
She offers me her hand, without a second thought I take it
And that was the biggest mistake
She draws her long knife
And cuts through my wrist
And whispers to me "appearances may deceive"
And I fall to the ground, perplexed and grieved.
