Nightmare

I had a dream
A very vivid dream
Where nothing at all
Was quite as it seemed

I was driving along
in my usual black car
On a local country road
But not very far

The kids were in the back
The hubby in the front
I started veering
He began to grunt

All of a sudden
The car started to roll
I don't know how it happened
The loss of control

I turned around
And saw their faces full of blood
We kept on rolling and rolling
Thud thud thud

I tried to scream
But the sound wouldn't come out
I tried and tried
I couldn't scream or shout

I woke myself up
With the strangest noise
I had to go and check
My girl and boy

I know it was just a dream
But the vision won't go
Happening again and again
In vivid slow mo

It's funny how dreams
Sometimes linger
And others you forget
With the click of a finger
