Deathbed Goodbye

You reach for me but I turn away unable to face the pain

The sight of you betrays my memory two visions but not the same

I refuse to believe that you are going you'll grace my life no more

Death won't steal my cherished memories I'll keep them safe in store

I face you now your dying wish duty bound I'm to oblige

A vision greets me saddening a world of suffering fills my eyes

"I love you Son" you whisper pain etched across your face

"Don't cry for me for peace comes soon I go to a better place"

I hold you close as you whisper "I'll tell you something true"

"Although I'm gone my spirit Son it lives on within you"
