~ I wrote this when I was 17ish and wasn't really into poetry. I just found it crammed in my documents and thought I'd digitalise it (for the planet and all :P)
It's pretty crap. ~
It was a dark and stormy night,
It started with a fight,
Then God broke down,
And with a frown
He banished the presence of light.
"Enough!" he said as he lay down in bed,
Conflict was not his cup of tea,
So he drew up a scheme to make people dream
Of how the world should really be.
The lights were out, no people about,
And this is how it would start,
"In order to appreciate life," God said,
"You and the world must be apart."
A week it was,
Earth went silent because
The love for life had gone
And when God gave it back
Humans realised the lack,
And the darkness was suddenly outshone.
"Life!" they cried, arms open wide,
"What a beautiful and wonderful thing!
How did we ever forget it was there?
How with nature did we not cling?
Stuck in our houses for days,
Cooped up in our ways,
Polluting the air with our creations...
We must take care, for we are here, not there,
And fill our lives with celebrations."
