The brighter the light,
The darker the shadow.
There was a girl called 'Lucky',
Though she felt anything but that,
Ignored, bullied, picked on,
For the whole of her life,
But she fought it,
And lied,
Told everyone she's fine,
A plastered smile on her face,
Which felt eerily out of place.
Her mother was ignorant,
And settled for nothing but perfection,
"My baby girl is the best,
Friends centre, right and left!"
Lucky nodded,
And agreed,
Didn't want her mother to see,
What a failure she was,
So hide the truth is what she does.
Then one day,
Just like the rest,
Sitting alone,
Came along an unlikely friend,
Long blonde hair,
And oozed charisma,
She told her,
She saw her,
Didn't mean to ignore her,
"Don't worry,
You are blessed,
Lucky my friend!"
But she shook her head,
"You don't understand,
It's part of their plan,
Isolate me,
So alone I'll be."
The girl simply smiled,
And took her hand,
"I know it hard to take a stand,
But don't you see,
You are fine,
People throw rocks at things that shine!"
Lucky watched her walk away,
Smiled to herself,
Her life just changed.
The brighter the light,
The darker the shadow,
You just gotta manage to find the balance.
