Walking down a street,
When a guy said to me,
"Why, you seem so down beat,
Hey, come on and move your feet,
Life is your retreat!"
But I pulled away,
Didn't care what he had to say,
I was too far down,
In a tornado spinning round.
"Walk a minute in my shoes,
Without breaking down,
All the pain,
And glaring eyes,
Burning through my flesh,
Seeking out lies,
Go on and try!"
I spat in reply.
He shook his head in sympathy,
And held out his hand,
"Darling, get off the ground,
There's so much around,
If you fear everything,
Then stuck in a corner you'll be,
Get out there and live your dream,
Sure... some of its down to luck,
But you've gotta dare to suck!"
I watched as he strode away,
Taking his words in,
Repeating and replaying,
Every single thing he said,
"Dare to suck!"
Just try it,
It's the right attitude,
And the one direction forward,
It's what I now choose to do.
