La La Love : Part 2 : Dylan

Cody hummed a tune that I recognized as Bon Jovi's Bed of Roses. I stayed close behind him, following him to the old church. He was using a pair of red earphones, quietly strolling in front of me. I don't know why but everytime our group takes a walk anywhere, Cody's always the one leading in front. That is, of course, along with Alicia beside him. He's got this weird air around him that makes people feel more comfortable looking at his back then to not look at him at all. Frankly said, he's got a dangerous smell. He's the type that goes beyond anyone's reach, the untouchable and unsociable type. Almost like one of those people who could do anything if they wanted to. What's worse is, the only person he tolerates is Alicia and Alicia could tolerate anyone. It's so weird that they're such opposites of each other but they're inseperable in so many ways.
Cody looked up to the sky and noticed me staring at him. He made a face that resembles a grimace at me, causing me to slow down a bit to increase the space between us. I told you he was dangerous. His face looks like he's challenging me to get in his way if I dared. No one have actually seen him angry or hurt anyone, but I'm don't plan to become the first demonstration of that.
"What is it Dylan?" he finally spoke, looking back to the front. I could hear a hint of mock kindness in his voice.
"It's nothing. Just wondering," I muttered, a little annoyed. I'm not even sure he could hear over his earphones. But to my surprise, he did. Of course.
"Wondering? About what?" he said, this time there was a hint of mock curiosity. He slowed down to my pace until he was walking right beside me. I hardened my face, unwilling to show my weakness to him.
"About you and Alicia," I answered quietly, then continued, "How you guys are always together and how you don't let anyone other than her get close to you."
He smiled smugly at me and laughed as if saying 'you really don't know anything, do you?'
"Of course, that's what everyone wonders when they look at us. Not even my parents understood my attachment to her when we were younger. You see, she's very important to me. She's always there and will always be there. I don't feel the need to get to know people other than her."
I looked at him. He's unexpectedly dependant towards Alicia and he's not ashamed to say that to other people. Admitting that you're completely dependant to a girl is something boys find hard to do. It proves that he's one hundred percent confident that Alicia would pick him over anyone else. Having that much trust on someone else is dangerously scary.
"I see," I ended the conversation. I'm not the type to pry into other people's complicated relationships. For a while, we just walked awkwardly without saying anything. We walked past the back of the school inside the gigantic forest behind the school until we reached the old church. We went inside.
"This place is filthy as usual," Cody said, coughing from all the dust. I agree.
"Beggars can't be choosers," I replied shortly. He looked at me, annoyed. I walked towards the stage, jumped up and dusted off spot in the bench before sitting on it. Cody just stood, reluctant to sit anywhere. I sighed at him and looked around. The church would've been completely white if it had been taken care of. It wasn't really big but the church was enough for the six of us in this group. What's strange is that, although this place was completely uncared for, the electricity worked and there were stereos, a keyboard, speakers, audios, and a friggin drum set on the stage. It's not like I'm complaining, but isn't this situation a little too convenient?
I heard a beep and looked at Cody. He was opening his phone to call someone.
"What are you doing?" I asked. He looked at me.
"I'm finally going to get someone to clean this place up until it looks good as new," he said with an 'obviously' tone. I stared. Where is he going to get someone to clean up this whole mess.
"How? I thought no one knew this place."
Cody snorted.
"Did you forget? My old man's the chairman. There's no way he wouldn't know if there was a church behind the school. I'll just get him to get some people to clean this place up," Cody said arrogantly. There you go, the spoiled prince attitude that he so quickly adapted to after coming to the city. I stayed quiet. He acts even more spoiled when he's confronting Alicia. He's obviously the type that gets whatever he wants.
Suddenly the door flew open. It's Lily. She kicked the door open again. Beside her was Alicia and behind her, there was Cherry, standing beside Jinx. Wow, who got Jinx to come here? I can't even find him anywhere else other than in the class. Lily quickly walked towards Cody and stood stubbornly in front of him. Cody looked at her indifferently while still holding his phone.
"Who gave you the right to make Cherry bring your guitar for you? You damn spoiled brat!" Lily scolded. Cody sighed.
"Who knows? I asked Dylan to bring it. I didn't know what happened after that," Cody replied nonchalantly, shooing Lily. Lily gave him a death glare.
"Calm down, Lily," Alicia said softly, putting on her glasses, "Cody apologize."
"But I didn't do anything wrong."
"Yes you did. You should've brought your guitar yourself. You're old enough to do at least that."
Cody looked annoyed but then reluctantly obeyed.
"Fine! Sorry, Cherry," he said, not looking at her.
"I, it's fine," Cherry replied meekly. I smiled at the scene. A regular peaceful afterschool for us. I might not be Cody's biggest fan. But I've got to admit that since he moved to this school, things have become more fun. Jinx, Cherry, Lily, and I would never have been friends with each other if he hadn't gathered us. Jinx was a computer geek, labeled 'emo' that no one wanted to be friends with. Cherry and Lily had strict parents who forced them to play classical instruments. While me, I'm just a regular scholarship student, living a pretty much normal life with my drums. The only thing similar about us is that we are the top six honor students, holding the highest grades in school. Cody and Alicia had always tied as number one while Jinx came second then Cherry as third with Lily as fourth, leaving me as the least intelligent out of all of them. Well as a scholarship student I have to at least get in the top ten so it balances out. Lily looked at me. Her hair glowed bright red under the sun that shone through the gigantic windows. She's cute.
