Breakfast was a tin of beans. It's all we had left since that deer knocked the last tin over. I then look at Jack. He.. Seems quite protective over me. Perhaps he does care about me. I hope he does. Since I'd take a bullet for him.. I really would. We relax under the canopy of the trees. A gentle breeze blew my hair in time with the rustling of the trees. Ever since Mr. Hughes punched me he's kept me close. Like he doesn't want anything bad to happen to me. Something's bothering him. I can tell. "Jack, what's wrong?" When I ask he seems startled like he was dreaming. "Huh? Nothing." he replied. Lying. Frowning, I ask again. "What's wrong?" Silently, he looked down before looking at me. Blue eyes. So deep and amazing. "I had a nightmare. You.. I almost lost you.." he whispered. Wow he seems upset. Like really upset. I never knew I meant so much to him. And apparently, dreaming of someone mean your thinking about them. "I never knew I meant that much to you." I stuttered, shocked. When I said that he looked at me almost as if I offended. "Of course you mean something to me! I don't know what I'd do without you!" he snapped, almost angrily. Mind you I know he wasn't angry. He just wanted to get his point across. And he did. I smiled at him gently and stated into his eyes. "Well don't worry. Your not gonna loose me." Relieved when I said that, he smiled back. Do I dare say it? Even if I had the guts, what would I say? I love you is way to straight forward. Opening my mouth to say it, but I then stop. No I can't. "I..." When I say it, Jack looks eager. "What? What is it?" Biting my lip, I stare at him. No. I still can't say it. "I... Think we should probably get some more food.." I sighed. Guess he'll never know. After I said that he looked kinda bummed out. "Yeah, your right." With that, he got up. "Shall we?" he asked with his hand out to me to help me up. Grateful I took his hand and stood up. "But what do we get? I think if we tried hunting the animals would hunt us first.." I worriedly said. Although he told me about his nightmare, he still kept me close. Still protecting me. "Your right.. How about some fish?" Shuddering I replied. "They could drown us.." Then he chuckled as if I was joking. I wasn't! Animals around here seemed like they wanted to eat our soul.. Like a horror movie. And I'm still not kidding! "Okay okay. Berries? Fruit?" he asked. Thinking for a moment, I then nodded. "Fruit can't kill us." I beamed as we walked along the forest floor. Five minutes into walking we found a tall tree covered in fruit. Perfect! Although it was really tall. I pointed the fruit out. With a slight grin, Jack began to levitate into the air. Of course, his mind powers! "Can you catch?" he called down. I then nodded with a grin. Quickly he threw the fruit down for me to catch, almost as if he was challenging me. Darting with help of my teleportation, I caught the fruit quicker and quicker. Hey, doing chores can be fun when your doing it with a gorgeous guy who has super powers! When we got the fruit down, he floated down to my side as he still held an armful of fruit. Both of us holding armfuls of fruit, we walked back. Although I then dropped a fruit. Then I went down to pick it up, but our hands met on the fruit. Both bent over, we looked at each other. Face going red. Heart racing. All this over one fruit. Slowly we picked it up together, using his mind to place the fruit in my arms with our hands still touching, him smiling. Blushing even more now, I smiled back. It seemed relaxing, until I heard a growl. I turned. What the?! A fox. That has red eyes too. Whats going on? Displaying its fangs and growling, I stare at it. Normally foxes and wolves are my favourite animal, but this one is just scary. Then it pounced at me. I'm to scared to move. Too scared to concentrate. Too scared to disappear. I closed my eyes and screamed.
