Runaway (Chapter 4)

Chapter 4.
Apologies

"Jessica... Mum told me.. To.. To wake you up..." stammered Lucas.
He was obviously scared I might scream my head off or throw something at his head.
"Look, Lucas. I am REALLY sorry about what I did yesterday. I really WILL try and make it up to you!" I exclaimed.
"Ok. Thanks..." answered Lucas, as he nervously walked out the room and downstairs.
Realising that I couldn't stay in bed all day; I got up and after brushing my teeth I followed Lucas down the stairs.
"Hi Mary... Sorry.. I mean Mum. " I said.
"Mmm. Jessica. There you are. Now about yesterda..."
"Mum can we PLEASE forget about that. It's the past." I interrupted.
"Yes... Of coarse sweetheart!"
Mary was smiling and happily making bacon and eggs, while Lucas and I watched T.V. I quietly (trying not to disturb Lucas) edged towards Mary.
"Mum, I'm really sorry about yesterday. I am really sorry. I won't to it again... I promise." I whispered.
Mary hugged me tight and replied:" I'm sorry too love!"
When Dad came home in the afternoon, I ran up to the door and hugged him hard.
"Whats all this for?" he asked, confused.
"I'm sorry about yesterday. Everything I did.. Was just outrageous. I didn't mean to say those things. Will you forgive me?" I questioned; holding back the tears.
"Sure!" Dad hugged me again and we all had lunch.
For dinner Dad ordered Chinese (my favourite.)
I had vegetable fried rice and sweet and sour pork. Then, I had prawn crackers. It was delicious!
But through out the day there was butterflies in my stomach. I didn't want to leave Harvy Drive. I didn't want to my new family. But I had to. I had to see Mum. My REAL Mum.
So when everyone else was sleeping I was lying awake holding my directions to Liverpool in my hands. Reading them over and over and over again. Memorising every street.
Finally, my clock struck 12:00PM and I was ready to go.
