Winter has intruded into cool February air
Leaving kisses in a blanket
To tuck the snowdrops back to sleep.
'There'll be no colour here
Not yet,' she seems to sigh
Adding soft simplicity
To a far too gaudy world.
A twinkle, a glow,
Bouncing back off each embrace
As she drapes her downy lace
Across each element of landscape,
Stroking Spring's restless head.
'Not yet, sister,
Rest, you slumber yet.'
