The thing about the human nature
When Cupid shows up,
They hallucinate, think they see
A diamond in the rough,
They become emotionally attached
To something not worth their weight
In gold, fall hopelessly for
A person they should hate.
You're just in love with the idea of love,
Prizing fool's gold,
Standing in the valley of death,
Finding fire in the cold.
You could have the world in your palm,
Instead I drag you down.
The stone tied to your foot in the ocean of Life,
A stone you love and crown.
You gently cover my face with kisses
As I feed on your life,
Lovingly caress my soul
As it gains strength from your strife.
I'm a parasite, making you weak,
Surviving off goodwill,
And though I've told you a thousand times
To leave you never will.
You raise a demon up to glory
Insist it's an angel,
Insisting you've found Heaven though
Really you're in Hell.
And even though I adore you too
You I slowly suffocate,
And that love I preach of, I say is yours
Is love you'll never locate.
I don't know why you're still here,
You fell head over heels,
Loving in the worst way possible,
Scarred by this ordeal.
Yet you worship, celebrate these marks
Blind from the very start,
'You're not heartless, I believe
You've always had a heart.'
So before I bleed you dry
Walk away my dear,
Before I leave you stone cold
Sucking up each laugh, each smile, each tear.
