If I Saw You Earlier

Chapter 39

I ran as fast as I could in the dark. John was too busy with his knee I managed to run away from him. He kept calling my name but I ran.

As I came home I unlocked the door. It was dark and no one was home. James was gone. I turned a table lamp on and sat on the couch. James was gone and I cried.

I heard the door but it might have been my imagination. A part of me considered James gone fighting with John. And I was alone. With no one with me.

Then he ran and hugged me. I couldn't believe he was there hugging me and telling me everything will be fine.

" I am sorry, I didn't know-". I said while I cried. He whipped my tears away with his thumbs and was holding my face in his hands.

" everything is alright baby, don't cry. I am here with you". He said in a calm voice while he looked me in my eyes.

" now, let's get you up there so you can sleep. Your eyes... I hate to see them that way". He said as he shook his head.

I left that bag in the hall near the door. As I walked slowly to the bed I realized I was to tiered to change my clothes. So I fell asleep wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

I heard James's voice, but I had no idea who he was talking to. Then I fell asleep.
