When I woke up the next morning, dad was gone. He’d come in to say goodnight to me before he had left, but I pretended to be asleep so that I didn’t have to explain why I was up so late, thinking about what on earth Jason had to tell me. Or show me.
Outside the sun was shining; it wasn’t raining for once. Scout was lying beside me, still sleeping, so I got up carefully and put my dressing gown on and went downstairs carefully for breakfast so that I wouldn’t wake him. My efforts were for nothing- Scout came bounding down the stairs to say good-morning just as I was pouring myself some cheerio’s. I sneaked him some toast and gave him a cuddle.
When I had finished my breakfast I went upstairs again to get dressed. Deciding what to wear was really hard, because I had no idea what I was dressing for. I had only just decided on loose jeans, a t-shirt, letterman jacket and uggs when I heard the bell ran- I looked out of the window too see Jason waiting for me.
It took a second for me to catch my breath after seeing him. It was still considerably early, so his hair was wet and tousled from his shower, and his shirt was clinging to his skin, showing off his muscles. But then I remembered why he was here, and walked silently down the stairs to meet him. I opened the door and saw that he looked as solemn as me. Neither of us spoke, and the silence was just on the verge of being awkward, when scout came bounding out of the house and jumped on Jason. Neither of us could hold back laughter then.
“Nice dog, what’s his name?” He asked
“Scout,” I answered. “I think he likes you!”
“No kidding!” He said. “Do you?”
“Uhhhh…” I was scared, this was getting awkward again, and I dint want that. I liked things the way they were before, when first met, way back… Two days ago! Wow. It felt like a lot longer. But Jason grinned.
“Just kidding,” He said. “But still, I’ll see if we can change that.” Scout started to whine. He needed to go to the toilet, and I had spent ages teaching him not to do it until we got to the woods. Jason, seeing this, said, “Lets go for a walk- Scout can do his business, and we can do ours!” He grinned slyly at me as I put a collar on scout to lead him across the road.
