Sorry guys, kept this one short and sweet - literally :)
It was a blur of movies, soup (not that she ate any of it) and blankets. My brain was beginning to fry we had watched Twilight so many times. Once was too many. But I stuck it out. I put up with all the vampire and werewolf shit because I wanted to make her happy. As she watched the movie, I watched her (Not in a weird way, just watching her smile).
"Alright. You'd better get home Justin. Your Mom will be worried" Drew half-heartedly smiled, snuggling down further underneath the covers of her bed. "Nah, I'm almost a hundred percent sure she's not" I chuckled, falling down happily on the end of the bed, and stretching myself out across the width of it. "Huh?". "I'm staying the night". I loved the look on her face when I said that. Frustrated, confused, angry, but the best part was the bitten back smile. Yeah, she wants me ;). "No, you're not". Denial. "Lies, all lies" I chuckled, sliding my eyes shut. "Mamaw will never let you stay" she folded her arms across her chest triumphantly, realising she had a good reason for me to leave. Maybe not. "She already has. And your pops". A big, smug smile plastered across my face, making Drew give me a death glare. "Justin".
"Drew". I mocked.
She sighed, and then groaned, sitting up from the mound of pillows leant against the wooden headboard of the bed. "Fine. You can stay. But you're sleeping on the floor" she pointed to the rug. Oh just let me work my magic. "Really Texas? The floor? That's just cold. Literally". Soft giggles escaped her lips as I sat up and gave her a pleading face. "A little comfier than the floor" I bit my lip, softened my gaze, and then licked my lips. Her glare broke. "Fine, you can sleep at the bottom of the bed" she sighed. I could have gotten better, but I didn't want to play her when she was sick. That was just cruel.
We lay in silence for a while. Drew's eyes glued to the TV screen as that vampire dude argued with the werewolf guy. Fascinating. I got bored, and clambered up beside Drew. She gave me a look, and I smiled innocently.
"Hey Drew?".
"Yeah Justin?"
"Can I have some Kellogg's?".
"Sure. Bottom kitchen cabinet" she shrugged, not getting the message. "I honestly don't think I'm going to get any Kellogg's there" I chuckled, waiting for her to get the point. "Justin, I've lived here my whole life, I think I know where the Kellogg's are". Ugh. "Not that type of Kellogg's". It was clear she now knew I meant I wanted to kiss her, but she played dumb, and continued to speak to me. "Well, what other types of Kellogg's are there?". Alright, I'll play Texas, but I'm gonna win ;). "Well, there's you know... loads of different flavours and shit but uh.... I had a certain type in mind". She looked at me from the corner of her eye, and I tilted my head towards hers. "I think I know what type it is" she giggled. Score. "Cranberry. Sorry, we're all out Biebs" And right back to not so much. "Don't be silly, We've only kissed once. How can it have run out?".
"Limited Edition boxes. They're smaller than the others".
"Really?"
"Yeah"
"Oh. Who knew, huh?".
"Weird, right?".
More silence. I wasn't giving up that easy. "I'm hungry" I said. "I'm not". Cruel. "Kellogg's anyone?". She gave me a look, and I returned with a smirk. "What does it take with you?" she shook her head, sighing. "A box of Kellogg's". She groaned, and sat up straight. I think I was getting through to her ;). Or not. "Can you have Coco Pops instead?" she suggested hopefully. "Not a chance". She was frustrated with me. I loved that. She clambered out of bed, and I immediately followed her as she paced randomly around the room.
"Weeto's?".
"You wish".
"Cheerios?".
"Not likely".
"A breakfast bar?".
"Never".
"Mamaw's Pie?".
Oh my god. How could I refuse. Pie, or Drew's lips. Hmm. Pie was good. Real good. But then again, so were Drew's lips. Come on God, help me out man. I'm dying here. According to Drew, I took too long to decide "Alright, pie it is!" she exclaimed, and turned to the door. I held onto her wrist, spinning her back around and into my chest. "No. I can live without pie". Whoa. Did I just say that? I must really like Drew. Sorry pie, you lose. "You couldn't last 24 hours without Mamaw's pie" she laughed. "I'm a pie-lover, but that doesn't mean I'd choose pie over you". Her eyes softened, and she blushed. "You'd choose me over pie?".
"In a heartbeat".
"That's so sweet".
"I try".
You could hear the sarcastic tone in our voices as we spoke, trying hard not to laugh at the other. "Wow. I feel special. I'm more important to you than pie" she smiled, falling down face-up on the bed. I collapsed next to her. "Yeah well, you're like, candy level on the list of importance".
"Is that high?".
"That's like... number two".
"Aww, what's number one?".
"Edward Cullen. He's my future husband, I can see it now". Drew burst out laughing, her stomach clenching as she giggled repetitively. I smiled when I saw her laugh, but then again, I always did. "Can I be the Maid of Honour?" she asked when she finally stopped laughing. "I don't know, you'll have to ask him. He's gonna be the girl". More laughter. "What do I have to wear?".
"A pie dress. With candy sprinkles".
"Sounds exotic".
"Oh it's on a whole new level of swag".
"What do you wear?". I had to stop and think for a moment, think of something to amuse her. "A suit made of biscuits". She rolled back and forth, picturing the sight as I spoke of it. "And my Best Man is Bali" I chuckled at the thought of Drew's dog in a suit. "Aww I'm really jealous now. I wish I was marrying you".
Awkward silence. Really awkward. "I uh... I didn't mean it like that..." she stuttered as we both looked across the bed at each other. She looked embarassed as hell, her cheeks flushing bright red, eyes wandering anywhere but me. Aww. I rolled over, and put my hands either side of her waist, leaning down and giving her a few, gentle kisses on the lips. She didn't shy away, or tell me to stop. She just let me kiss her.
