Memory

You can ignore, but never forget.
Things are not gone: merely dormant.
The deceit and the lies like a web like a net,
But the grudges and thoughts make us human.

Faking and shaking, we hate our own lies,
The ice in our hearts is repulsive.
What we like in ourselves in others despise,
Hypocrisy: reason is illusive.

We want to do well but we want to have fun,
Why wait for fun when it's now?
We end all our lives before they've begun.
Break a heart, break a promise, a vow.

We meddle in things that maybe we shouldn't,
Oppose them 'til they mean we're more "free".
There is no 'can't' there only is 'couldn't'
But everything comes with a fee.

We all ignore but haven't forgotten,
Our mind still continues while our conscience sleeps.
Soon society will hit rock bottom,
And the world which we live in is playing for keeps.
