16+ warning
Heat
Condensed into stinging welts
Clenching muscles under too-hot bed sheets
Tears tugged out of reluctant eye corners
A mantra of belief
Whispered under ragged breath
Knowing it will be better tomorrow
That the sun will make everything look prettier
The ugly scars,
Marring otherwise perfect skin
A means of expressing what you cannot in words
I'm scared
I'm hurt
I'm lonely
And i need someone
Anyone
Now
Before I make a mistake
I'll never forgive
But you're alright
And even if it kills you,
That's the story you'll stick to
Because no matter go much you want
Ache, long, despair
You know that you don't deserve to be saved
You're the girl down the street
The average, the overlooked
And you have no ambition
Floating
On air, on pain
An endured high of your own making
Because this proves you're still alive
And they haven't quite killed you yet.
