Fat

My fat defines me.
I feel like it eats away at me, yet grows on me.
I feel trapped.
Insecure.

When I'm with my friends,
I feel like an elephant trying to dance with butterflies.
Which falls flat on it's face in a mud pit.

Society is cruel.
Harsh.
Crazy.
And messed. Up.

Cruel Society.

Always feeling fat, But always looking thin, Just glancing at that cookie, Could be regarded as a sin. Going up one dress size, And suddenly; a fight, Even one inch bigger, And it's a grotesque sight.

Society is cruel. People look but don't see the person. 💚

Too true. I've always been ahem chubby and I totally get it. Such pressure to conform! Society sucks monkey butt 😝

Surely you are too young to worry about your weight?! Concentrate on who you are, the rest should follow 💜💗💜

@MrsS unfortunately I've met kids as young as 8 who worry about their weight. It's society and the media with their unrealistic expectations and the value they place on looks over substance. 😒

@Irrational_Kimmi sadly true. But it's also what they are allowed to see at home. 😔

@Irrational_Kimmi @eddie12309 It's just so sad 😔 Glad I have boys, I think it's harder for girls (still!!), in this respect... Airbrushing and re-touching should be banned!!! 😠😘

@eddie12309 yup. I shall ban all reality tv and 'celeb' mags when I have kids. Gonna raise me some angry feminists 😁

@MrsS yeah, it even effects boys now too, though still not to the same degree as girls. I hate what society is doing to girls - it's like we're going backwards. Somehow it's become 'cool' to be fake, stupid and famous rather than natural, smart and to achieve things though hard work. Blah.

As you can tell I get rather fired up about this.

@Irrational_Kimmi @MrsS yep. I suppose its also how mum is aswell. If she's always going on about diets and weight then they will be body conscious. Air brushing should definately be banned... Well maybe just a bit of soft focus on my pics.

@eddie12309 😊 there's a difference between 'soft focus' and airbrushing half a stone off an already stick-thin model. I'm a fan of a bit of 'soft-focus' on my own pics, 😁

@eddie12309 @Irrational_Kimmi Agreed, they change the whole look of a person at times - it's an outright lie!! 😠 Have to say though @Irrational_Kimmi (no offence...) but I wonder whether it was (modern) 'feminism' that's been half the problem. Young women now, that i've seen, are quite often either all "Treat me like a princess, boy! And get back under my thumb!" or it's the opposite (sadly often fearing men / relationships, etc). I think a lot of both men and women have kind of lost their way a bit... We should celebrate our differences - it was supposed to be all about embracing equality, not being 'like men'! (sorry, unexpected mini rant there!!!) 😘😘

@Irrational_Kimmi (I wasn't aiming that directly at you! I just don't like the term 'feminism' much, as it's been so twisted since the Suffragettes forged a way for women... ) 😘

@MrsS no I agree, it's supposed to be about equality of opportunity, not women being 'bigger and better' than men!

Totally agree with @MrsS @Irrational_Kimmi @eddie12309 I was in a shop the other day and a women was trying a dress on next to me the guy knocked and asked her if it was any good she said "I love it it's gorgeous but it's too small and I refuse to buy a size 14!" she had two teenage daughters with her! I mean whats that all about!?! Cut the label out if it bothers you that much...

@sjw 👍 pathetic! I never care what the label says, ever! I'm none too happy with my shape at the moment, but I don't let it take over. I used to mention my 'fat tummy', then noticed my son had picked up on it - needless to say I never mention it anymore! We have a responsibility to notice our affect on others, especially young, impressionable kids who are striving to fit in, whilst dealing with their inconsistent hormones!! 😘
