A week went by and every time I had history Colin was always in the same, angry mood.
But one day, Friday, for my last lesson, he was different.
"Hey, are you okay today?" he asked sitting down next to me
"So you've finally decided to talk to me have you?" I replied, hastily
"Mm," he looked deep into my eyes "Sorry about that, I'm new to the area I didn't me to hurt you or anything." his voice sounded robot like and every now and then he would pause between words.
"Can, we start over?" he asked. I nodded
"I'm Megan." I announced to him
"I'm Colin pleased to meet you." he smiled. I chuckled quietly as our teacher got on with the lesson.
When the final bell went I walked out the classroom to find Colin waiting for me.
"Hello." he grinned
"Hi." I said sounding confused as to why he's waiting for me.
I strolled past him and carried on until I reached my car. As soon as I was about to open the door I saw a pale hand reach across for the handle.
"May I?" I turned round to find Colin standing next to me "May I?" he asked again.
"If you must." I muttered, I was sure I had spoken to quietly for him to hear, but he opened the door all the same. How could he hear me?
I eyed him suspiciously as I stepped into my car. I started the engine but he still didn't leave.
"Malinda and Matthew, are waiting for for you." I said hoping he would rush off to see them and not make them wait.
"Mm, they can wait." he shot them a look that I couldn't see but they nodded and got in the car.
"Why? What are you gonna do that's gonna make them have to wait?" I asked trying to sound complicated
"How do you know their names?" he looked at me his breath warmed my neck.
"I heard them around and stop trying to ignore my question," I snapped "What are you doing that's making them wait?"
He sighed and walked over tote passenger seat.
"I never said-" he cut me off by putting a cold finger in my lips. I must have gone cross-eyed because he laughed.
"They don't have to wait, I can walk home." he removed his finger and nodded his head in the direction of his car, or where his car had been.
"They left you?" I asked, stupidly. Of course they had left him, Megan, where would they be otherwise?
"Don't you have a walk to get started?" I teased. He chuckled and got out. He waved good-bye and walked out of the school grounds. What a weird person, I thought to myself. I drove home, still thinking of him. I was surprised when I saw a green Porsche parked outside my house. I walked in and went to the kitchen.
"Megan!" shouted Grace, my twenty-three year old sister
"Hey, Grace." I mumbled. It's not that I don't like my sister but I'm nothing like her. Shes, wild, loud and well mouthy, but I'm more on the quiet side not much of a party animal.
"We have so much to talk about," she squealed "We have plenty I time I'm staying till Sunday, isn't that great?"
"Yeah. Sure." I said, with no enthusiasm at all. She didn't seem to notice and just walked into the other room. I went upstairs and locked myself in my room, so I couldn't be disturbed.
When mum shouted "Dinners ready."
I realised I would have to face Grace and her loud voice. The conversation was most likely to be about Grace, and how her husband, Steve, is getting on with his new job. Ugh!
I trudged down stairs and went into the kitchen. I poured everyone a drink and then sat down at the breakfast bar.
My idea of what the conversation was going to be like was, correct. So after a while I didn't pay attention.
"Megan, love, could you get that." Mum said
"Get what?" I asked looking up
"The door, now go on," she said impatiently. I got up and went over to the door.
"Hel-?" I began "hello?" I finished making a funny face. I was about to shut the door when someone's shadow darkened the room.
"Sorry, I didn't think you were in but then I heard your voice."
I hadn't quite got to grips with who it was, even though I recognised the voice immediately.
"What? How?" I stuttered. He chuckled.
"I wanted to speak to you and I asked your friend to find out where you live, that's how." he sounded oddly pleased with himself.
