I've taken some time away
Sorting out all of the madness
The fog has cleared
and now I can observe
The destruction left behind
Others may look at this wilderness before me
And see nothing but a path of broken dreams
But I see a new future building
Fresh laid plans and patched up seams
Another journey which was not of my choosing
But, hey, don't they say
Expect the unexpected?
Easier said than done,
when you're head is screaming
'RUN!'
Ignoring that, is a skill I've perfected...
An increase in self awareness
Renewed vigour for all that is mine
Events confirmed I should trust my gut instincts
For they've held true
time after time
There are those whose aim in life
will be to knock you down, further than they dare to tread
But you'll find out my 'friend'
It's you who'll lose in the end
When your own reflection becomes a sight that you dread...
I was strong long before all this tried to kill me,
I didn't have to wait for that test
So though old sayings may be true,
Just between me and you
I always knew, I was tougher than the rest.
