Human beings have an innate curiosity for other people. We want to know how and why other people act the way they do, think the way they do and behave the way they do. We want to learn from our peers and be opened up to a wider spectrum of ideas and understanding.
But we still only scratch the surface. We have yet to understand a general population beneath the surface, because it is too time consuming. That's why we resort to stereotyping and judgement.
And there is no way either of us could really learn everything about another person. And that's why it's so important not to judge someone, when all you have seen is the tip of the iceberg. Underneath is the real truth. Some people have more above the surface than others. Some barely penetrate the surface.
But the more we judge by what we see, the more the extent of our understanding and perception of others will be greatly compromised. Rather, take the risk, take a deep breath and dive under. What you see will surprise you, either good or bad.
But never trust anyone unless you have dove under and seen what's beneath the surface. Because you will be pushed under, if you didn't do it on your own initiative.
So take a deep breath and dive. The people with the least ice over the surface are sometimes the most interesting ones.
