Chapter 14
Happiness
My first class was physics and I sat behind Leon for that. He smiled at me when I walked in to find the whole class there already. Embarrassed, I put my head down and hurried to my seat.
"Now class, I am sure Miss Taylor has a perfectly good explanation for being late for my lesson, don't you agree?" Mr Jones said, almost smirking.
Some people turned round to stare at me and I could feel the heat rushing to my face. Everyone was silent, except, of course...
"I am sure she does Sir," Leon agreed, knowing Mr Jones had meant it sarcastically.
Mr Jones eyed Leon before frowning at him.
"You will speak only when I say you can!" he snapped.
"Thanks Sir! I can speak all lesson know!" Leon laughed.
"Why might you think that?" Mr Jones whispered.
"Because you said that when you say 'You can' I am allowed to talk!" Leon smirked.
It took me and the rest of the class a while to catch on then everyone realised and laughed, talking.
"Silence!" Mr Jones growled.
Everyone was quiet except for Leon who continued to talk to the person next to him, who moved their chair away from his slightly.
"After school detention boy! If you think you can get away with that nonsense in my class I will....uh....um...." Mr Jones turned red not knowing what to say.
"Yes sir?" Leon asked pleasantly.
"Do...bad stuff!" Mr Jones hissed, slamming a book on a table.
I smiled as I realised that Leon had said all this to make Mr Jones forget about my punishment. I relaxed and found my book.
"And oh yes, Miss Taylor, after school detention for you too, I do not accept late pupils for my class," Mr Jones decided.
I groaned and gritted my teeth. Great. Just brilliant.
"Eh, at least we have detention together!" Leon grinned at me.
I smiled at this thought and copied down what was scribbled on the board.
The day seemed to fly by and at 3:15pm, I was in detention, whispering to Leon.
"Look, Scarlett, do you like me or not?" Leon whispered urgently.
I bit my lip and pictures flashed through my head of myself and him. Yes. No. Maybe.
"I-I, um..." I stammered.
I really wasn't sure. Wait! What was I talking about, of course I like him, I was just afraid to admit it.
"Yes," I smiled.
Leon smiled and engraved a picture of the desk with a pencil. It said: L+S. I frowned at him, and he laughed at the expression on my face.
"Silence!" the teacher snapped.
"Sorry Miss," Leon chuckled.
It was silent for a moment, both of us thinking.
"So...will you be my girlfriend then?" Leon asked, side glancing at me.
I thought.
"Yes," I finally said after a while.
He smiled again, and then continued to copy down a chapter of a book. I smiled, blushing, then continued doing my work again.
