Skaters and Haters-Chapter 5

I knew who it was instantly. He rolled down his window, stuck his head out and yelled:
"Quick! Get in! There's a storm brewing!"
It was Jonny. By the time I had finished explaining the events of the last hour, we arrived at his little flat with a view of the beach. By this time it was pouring down with rain. It was a nice looking block of flats. Not like my old one.
"Well, here we are,", He said, "Home, sweet home!"
Jonny showed me to my room and told me to make myself at home. Once I had finished unpacking my things, I went to explore. It was one of those modern, open plan flats. Lots of white furniture and pillars, there was even a skylight in the kitchen! I sat on the couch and tried to relax. The moment I switched the TV on, there was a knock at the door.
"Can you get that for me Red? I've got my hands full with the dinner."
So I got up and opened the door to find Kay with a mascara-stained face.
"Can I come in?" She whimpered.
"Yes, Yes of course!", I said hurriedly, "Jonny? Jonny! Get over here!"
"I TOLD you tha-" He started, then he saw Kay dripping with rain,"Come and sit down in the warm, quickly! Red, can you go and find a towel from the bathroom, please?"
So I ran down the hall into the bathroom to find a towel and a hot-water-bottle. I decided to fill the hot-water-bottle first. I scolded myself doing this, but at this point I really didn't care. I only cared about Kay. I tightened the lid, grabbed a towel and ran back down the hall.
I wrapped the towel round her shoulders and gave her the hot-water-bottle to hold. She didn't move. She just sat. Staring. I sat down next to her on the couch. As I did that, a tear, black with mascara, dropped onto the snow white towel, leaving a small black mark. She saw this and gasped.
"Oh my god, sorry." She sobbed.
"Please don't." I said, starting to get a little teary myself.
I put my arm round her, I felt her shivering, how cold she was.
Jonny came back in the room with a bowl of tomato soup with garlic bread.
"Sorry mate, I don't like garlic bread!" I said with a grin.
We all laughed. Although this joke wasn't funny, it was allot easier than crying.
