Friends Like You

If I could take the Sun from the Sky for a day to light up your face then I would,
Just to shine you with warmth and see you smile just like you should.
If I could take the beautiful colours of a butterfly and give them to you then that's what I'd do,
To make life so bright for you and seem shiny, sparkly and new.

At times you have the world on your shoulders and it weighs you down,
I can but try to help you carry the weight and to share your frown.
If I had a magic wand I would wave it and cast a spell,
To ease your suffering and make everything well.

But alas, I can not do these magical things that I speak of to help out,
I can however be here always for you and comfort you when you cry, scream or shout.
To support you when you need it most and to just listen when you have something to say,
I will try to direct you along the safest and best way.

I'll never be far away if you should ever need me,
For what the future holds we can not see.
But know this and never forget, keep it close and carry it with you,
You're important to me and I will always do just what I can do.

Never be afraid to turn to me if you need to do just that,
For just around the corner is where I'll always be at.
