She watched the dawn chase dusk away,
Across the sky: a brand new day.
With every beat her jaw grew tense,
Her muscles clenching at their expense.
Something stung, it wasn't right:
Her waiting in the dead of night.
She tapped her foot, the feeling grew,
There was something she just could not chew.
What was wrong, and where were they?
She'd waited, wasting most the day.
She heard footfalls, a scraping sigh,
Just as midnight's moon was nigh.
They'd come, she rose, and turned to meet,
Gestured for them to take a seat...
Instead, her throat was crossed with knife,
At once she feared the cause of strife.
'I'm sorry, Mal, I had no choice,'
Came that brutal, deceiving voice.
Her brother smiled, her heart did fail,
And before she fell, she felt betrayal.
