Blazing fires scorch the skies
And the skin of those standing near,
Flickering flames snaking upwards
Towards the stars my dear
It seems that heaven is burning
Well I'm all for equality
Tendrils of smoke twist and shroud
The clear night, jealously
I started this raging inferno, darling
And fuelled it with photos of you
Drenched your face in kerosene
And then, the match I threw
You see I trusted you with love
My heart was not yours to break
So now your effigy is burning
To remind you of your mistake.
So, sweetheart, this is goodbye
Parting is such sweet sorrow
I walk from the fire head held high
Towards the promise of tomorrow.
I.Sparrow
