Walking down a hallway
For which there is no wall
Yet I am guided straight and true
Kept back so I don't fall
Shattered mirrors line this place
Fragments toying with my sight
Through the cracks and gaping holes
Pours in streams of light
It's a magical, dazzling world
Permeated with understanding
In a thousand shards of glass
My own reflection is standing
No painting over the spiderwebbing
The cracks distort my face
Beyond all normal recognition
Just what is this place?
Unable to hide from sparkling splinters
I barely recognise myself
This long forgotten neglected side
Crept up on me with stealth
The foundation on my face is gone
The mascara can't hide my eyes
But I have found an inner beauty
That had me surprised
It seems sometimes that it hurts us
To hide from our true reflection
You don't need to mould yourself
To fit supposed perfection
You are who you are, don't forget
As yourself you should always stay
Don't bury yourself under pressure
To be a certain way
Look at the mirror, the imperfect shards
Teaching you how to smile
That genuinely happy grin
That hadn't been seen in a while
This land of the introspective
Let's you see to what you hold
Just remember that being yourself
Is worth more than fame and gold
Keep on walking down the hall
Wearing your heart on your sleeve
Then go out into the bright new world
All you have to do is believe.
