Beginning Line Challenge!

Thank you to @jackalice for choosing my piece to win the last round of the beginning line challenge. Now the weighty task falls to me!

The next beginning line will be:

"The door closed with a creak and clicked shut behind me..."

Any format is fine; poem, story, whatever floats your boat, just as long as it is in keeping with the 'night dwellers' theme.

The deadline is Saturday 9th February at 8pm - that's a whole week people, plenty of time to write something epic.
