We danced together
On our last night;
You were drunk,
Couldn't put a foot right,
Under the black, star-speckled sky,
By torch and lantern light,
You held me in your arms,
Bodies pressed close,
Long fingers teasing through
My tangled mass of curls.
And we danced,
Like no one was watching,
To the rhythm of
Our beating hearts,
And laughed and laughed
Until my face hurt,
And my legs ached,
And my head was spinning,
From wine and dancing,
And you somehow
Took me, easily led,
And danced me straight
Into your bed.
