Still Ok

You made a dark day
Brighter with the light of
Your laugh,
My eyes opened and I
Started to shine again
From the inside;
You're a spark
In my kindling.
Kind words buoyed me up
When I was drowning
In bottomless self-pity,
And self-inflicted isolation,
You tore away my chafing
Self-damnation,
Turned me around,
And set me off again.
Your voice, gruff and
Familiar, a comforter,
Covered my ears,
Blocked out the screams
Of my hollow, lonely heart
With a sing-song call
Of all the usual and normal,
Mundane and yet personal,
Reminding me that although
We are miles apart,
Our hearts are still
Beating together,
And because of you,
With your perfect timing,
All heroics and hyperbole,
Stories and comedy,
I think I can carry on another day,
Missing,
Wishing,
Waiting;
But still ok.
