The Riddle Of Riddles

Chapter six.

Once we had finished Grandmas room I went to the kitchen to get a drink and collect my self again.
"Grab the torch on the way back up, the light bulb has blown in the spare room."

I took a deep breath in and gulped down the last of the water before walking back to the hall. "Where did you put it?"
"On the table in the hall."
I glanced at the table. No light. Scott was far too careless when it came to looking after items. "No, its not there."

Silence. I could practically here the cogs in his brain turning as he tried to remember.

Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. Scott stood opposite me now. "You sure? I definitely put it there when i walked in before, and iv not touched it since, so you must have moved it."
"well iv not touched it, why would i need it all the light are working now." We stared at each other For a few moments both thinking.
"We'll retrace out steps, we've not been to most of the house so it wont take long," Scott was planning out loud "We will go in chronological order, so when we first got here where did you go?"
"The lounge, then My room, Grans room, then the Kitchen."

After searching all those rooms, plus Scotts it still wasn't found. "I put a spare in my truck, wait here and ill go get it." He then frisked his pockets, pulled a face and looked around like a lost sheep. "Have you seen my keys?"
"God Scott you're completely hopeless, you lost the light, you lost your keys, what you gonna lose next?"
"I'll take that as a no then." He looked at me like a lost puppy, I knew how much he loved his truck and if he couldn't find the keys he would be devastated.
"Right, we'll start downstairs now they will eventually turn up, we'll just have to return to the spare room at the end."
"Yeah all right, but can we try to hurry this up, this place is giving me the creeps, its too quiet."
"Sure its starting to freak me out too."

OHMYGOSH, such mystery and suspense! :O is it a ghost?

@ben_leggatt Ahh, now that would be telling (;

@JessLouise well, I'm hooked already so im sure as hell gonna b reading the next few chapters.

@JessLouise also, have u thought of a name for it yet? Maybe call it something like The Fallen, or The Listener? I read a poem called the listeners for English GCSE and it was very mysterious an ghostly, and I'd imagine it would be similar to your story if it was a full blown story. It's just a thought :)

@ben_leggatt nope no name yet, but there not bad suggestions, ill keep them in mind thankiees (:
