Love You Too: PART THIRTY TWO

-TIFFANY-

Ellie and Joe left an hour after I'd fallen asleep, according to Nate. He'd just lay there with me in his arms for around three hours.
When I started to wake up, it was 9am, and the hospital was becoming noisy with new people being placed on the beds near us.
"Morning sleepy head" Nate said, leaning down to kiss me on the head.
"How long have I been asleep for?" I asked, wearily.
"About two and a half hours. I've been awake the whole time. And Joe and Ellie left about an hour ago"
"I'm sorry, I should be looking after you, not the other way round!" I said, repositioning my head on his shoulder, where I knew I wasn't hurting him. "Sorry if I hurt you"
"It's alright, I'm a strong man!" he said. I believed him, but it was hard seeing him so fragile.
"Okay" I said, turning my head so I could gently kiss one of his bruises. "Hurt?" I said, looking up at him.
"Nope" he said, acting all tough. I kissed him slightly harder, in the same place.
"What about now?"
"Nope!"
I then kissed him harder still, over and over again, trailing across his collar bone.
"Now that just feels incredible!" he said, thrusting his head back and enjoying the attack I was making on his body.
"Morning you two" Sandy called before opening the curtain. "Did you both sleep well?"
"I did, but I'm not sure Tiffany did, she's just had a little nap!" Nate said, beginning to laugh a little.
"I can't blame her! It's stressful being pregnant and engaged!" Sandy said, coming over to the bed. "You two look absolutely gorgeous by the way!"
"Aww thank you" I said, nuzzling closer into Nate's chest.
"Now, do you want to see if you can walk around a bit?" she said, as I started to sit up, encouraging him to try.
"Okay then" he said, sitting up and swinging his legs over the side of the bed. I walked around the bed and held his hand. He managed to stand, closing his eyes.
"Does it hurt?" I said, before he replied with a yes. "Don't you think he should sit down? I don't think he should be--" I began, growing increasingly concerned for Nate.
"Tiffany, he's fine, just let him carry on. He'll tell us when he's in too much pain" Sandy said, reassuring me a little. His face was growing in agony, as his bruised legs were trembling. Sandy walked over and took his other hand, supporting him.
"I'm sorry, I can't see him in this much pain" I said, walking away and throwing the curtain open.
"Tiffany!" Nate shouted from behind me.
I stepped out of the room, and stood with my back against the wall. I looked up to the strip lights on the white ceiling, and thought of the many people who'd been in the same position as me, looking up at these insanely bright lights. Nate may even have been in this position, when I was in a coma. Then I thought about all the support he'd given me during that time; all the days he'd stared at my blank face and imagined all the pain I was enduring. Just as I realised I had to do the same, I turned around to find Nate stood beside me.
"Nate," Sandy said, walking after him. "You managed it!"
"I can do anything when I need to be with this girl" he replied, reaching up to sweep a stray hair from my face. "I love you, T. But can we please go back? I'm feeling a bit light headed"
"Sure" I said, holding his good arm and providing just enough support so he could make it back to the bed. "And I love you too" I said, as he lowered back onto his bed.
"I think you can go home today, if you want to?" Sandy said, looking across at me.
"That'd be great!" I said, hugging Nate. "Thank you so much Sandy. I owe you so much"
"Honestly, it's an absolute pleasure knowing you two. Next time you're in here please make sure it's only for a scan?" she said, nodding towards my stomach.
"Thank you" I laughed, coming over to hug her.
"Come and see me when you're in" she said, hugging me back. "I'd love to see you!"
"Hey, don't forget the doting husband-to-be?" Nate called, from the bed.
"Oh trust me, I won't" I said, walking to the side of the bed and lying down with him again. "Is it okay if we stay like this until he's discharged?"
"As long as he's okay with it, then I'm fine with it! Have a good morning" she said. "Actually, I'm going to the cafe down the street for my breakfast, do either of you want anything?"
"I'm fine, I don't really need to eat"
"Yes you do T, you're eating for two now. Why don't you go with her?" Nate said, placing a hand on my hip.
"Okay then" I said, getting up and kissing Nate's forehead before I left.
