"I'm going shopping for baby clothes with mother and Mrs V today, is that alright?"
"Of course baby" I said, hugging Tiffany.
We'd spent our first night together in our new home, and it had been absolutely perfect. I'd tried to put her closet to the back of my mind, but I was finding it difficult to erase the thought of the amount of money that was inside that little room. Maybe I should get it insured. Yes, I'll do that today.
"What time are you leaving?" I said, beginning to gently stroke her shoulder.
"In about an hour and a half, so I'd better start getting ready" she said, getting out of bed and revealing her nightwear. She was still wearing one of her silk night dresses, which was a flattering shade of lilac. As she stretched, it rose up slightly to reveal the tops of her thighs. I was entranced by this sight, and didn't realise that she was still talking to me, until she threw a scatter cushion at me.
"Hey!" I said.
"Stop ogling!" she said, in slight disgust.
"I was not! I was admiring my fiancé!"
"Yeah yeah. Anyway, are you coming tomorrow?"
"Coming where?" I said, searching through my mind for something that was happening tomorrow.
"To see your baby for the first time?" she said, placing her hands on her small bump.
"Oh my god I almost forgot!" I said apologetically. "Of course I am! I wouldn't miss it for the world!"
"Good, because we need you there"
"I'll be there every step of the way babe, don't you worry" I said, holding her head so
I could kiss it.
"I'm glad" she said, heading into the bathroom to shower. I decided to take this opportunity to have a quick look inside her closet again. Part of me was repulsed by the amount of clothing she owned, but part of me was also fascinated to see if I recognised all of it.
As I glanced up and down the shoe wall, nothing seemed untoward, and the same went for the jewellery wall. But as soon as I started to look at the handbags, I noticed a small hoard of bags I'd never seen her carry before; bags of snakeskin's and of rich leathers, of greens and blues, that somehow didn't match her style.
I left the room as I heard the shower turn off, and sat down on the bed, trying to look as nonchalant as possible.
"You've been in my closet?" she said as she walked out in just her towel.
"How did you guess?" I said, standing up and preparing to explain myself.
"I didn't, but I know now" she said, winking at me. "You know you can go in there any time? What's mine is yours"
"Oh thanks! Might go and try on that dress I've been eyeing up then!" I said sarcastically.
"Oh haha" she laughed, walking into the closet as I followed her. "What's up then?"
"These bags" I said, pointing to the blue leather and the green snakeskin ones "You didn't buy these?"
"No I didn't"
"And you never wear them?"
"Nope"
"So why do you have them?"
"They were given to me by designers after we were on the cover of Vogue. I suppose I just wanted to keep them as a reminder of our brief stint as cover models" she said, looking across fondly at her framed magazine cover.
"Aww gorgeous" I said, holding her. "You'll always be a cover star in my eyes. Baby, would you mind if I sold some stuff? I'd really like to donate some money to a cancer charity, for your aunt, and as you don't need those two bags, they could go to a better home"
"Umm.. Okay sure" she said, pausing a little, but still staying in my arms.
"Thank you. Wear this"
I pointed across the room to the clothes wall, where a dress was hung. I followed my finger to a dress that was white but slowly faded into black at the bottom hem, but it was quite tight fitting.
"You really think this bump will fit in that?" she said, looking at me in slight disgust.
"Yes, I really do. You're not as big as you think, T" I said, wrapping my arms around her.
"Well there's only one way to find out" she said, pulling the dress on.
"See?" I said, "You look absolutely gorgeous"
"Thank you babe" she said to me, kissing me. "You're doing wonders for my self esteem"
"I'm glad I am" I said, between kisses. I turned her around so I was stood behind her, and so we were facing a mirror. She really did look gorgeous, her legs long and elegant, her arms toned and tan, her bump barely visible. "You really are the most gorgeous woman on the planet"
"Thank you" she said quietly, her voice wavering slightly but her lips curving into a smile.
"I can't wait to marry you" I said, kissing her cheek from behind her.
"Just 4 weeks now" she said, turning her head so she could kiss me fully on the mouth.
