Do you guys think I should change their ages to 16? Comment your opinion. You'll see in this chapter why. And no it's not going to get totally lovey-dovey.
"Zay?" I yell, my voice echoing back to me. I wait for an answer, but I hear none. I limp over to the center of the clearing, and slowly turn around, looking for any signs of him.
Nothing is in sight and I'm being to worry. Maybe he had eaten the berries before me and took off like me. I can do nothing now and my stomach is grumbling so I search and I find some honeysuckle and suck the sweetness out of it, which of course doesn't help my hunger but leaves me with the satisfaction that something around here is edible. I lay down under a rocky ledge at the corner of the clearing and drift to sleep...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wake up to someone kissing me. On the lips. I've never kissed anybody except my family. The person realizes I've woken up and sits up.
It's Zay who's the kisser.
"I'm so sorry Gemi. I've wanted to do that since I saw you dragged into the camp..." He sheepishly backs out into the clearing and starts to briskly walk to the other corner.
"Wait!" I say. I can't believe I'm doing this. "I- I liked it," I say quietly.
Zay looks uncertain and hesitant. "I liked it," I repeat. His eyes widen and I force a small smile. I can't believe it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zay gets up and walks back over, stuffing his hands in what's left of his pockets. His jaw is shaking. His eyes twinkle and he seems perfect to me. He's a Gemini and I am too.
He kneels down and pecks me on the cheek. I blush and grin like a fool. Suddenly, I hear a growl and my heart quickens. My eyes meet something similar to a beast about two yards behind Zay. It's frothing at the mouth and it's moving heavily but gracefully, breathing hard.
Its spiky, coarse hair glistens as it paces, deciding when to strike and I can see its teeth, bloodied and brown, overlaying it's bottom lip and sticking out, just like his pointy, small black ears.
My eyes widen and I move back an inch.
The beast lunges at me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It hits my face and the wind is knocked out of me. I lay there, helpless as it jumps over the ledge and pounds off int the woods, shaking the ground as it runs.
Zay turns back to me and pulls me into a kiss. I don't know why, but I push away.
"Do you have to do that now? It could come back any second, bright one, and bring some friends with it!" I so want to kiss him till eternity, but I force myself not to. Zay quickly takes his hands off my waist and I can see that he's sorry, but I don't forgive him. I turn my head to lean it on the back of the ledge and close my eyes, my stomach grumbling and begging for food. Can it get any worse?
