Inspired by @AubreyMo's Opuss: Angels Cry
My mommy told me,
When I was just a little peep,
Stories of the angels,
When I couldn't fall asleep.
She told me when I hear,
The thumping of the rain,
"That's the angels crying,"
She'd say, again and again.
So I grew more curious,
And asked about the snow,
The hail, thunder, and lightening,
And all the weather God knows.
She sang a song about God's game,
How he made a strike in bowling,
That's why I heard the thunder,
That was so frightening.
And of course she had an answer,
For the white, cold snow too.
How the angels had no place to 'go',
So on Earth they went poo.
The lightening was scary,
I remember it well,
And my mother had an,
Interesting story to tell.
She said, "When you're sleeping,
Or even during the day, hunny.
God takes a bright picture,
Because you're doing something funny."
And she told me, for the hail,
Angels were making ice.
And the unexpected winter sunshine,
Was for me doing something nice.
I grew up over the years,
And into a lazy teen.
All those stories left behind,
I was to too annoyed and mean.
Once I got through THAT,
I was too busy to think,
And my grades in college,
Were on the brink.
There I met a man,
His name was Mike Welledge.
We fell in love at sight,
On the last week of college.
Then off I went to,
Another era of my life.
With a huge job as a doctor,
And I became Mike's wife.
My busy job and kids,
Took up so much time.
So I wasn't there the day,
My own mother died.
Those stories sprang back,
The day of her funeral.
At first they were vague,
And then I remembered them all.
I guessed my mom was now an angel,
And she was crying for me,
Because I'd just been divorced,
And was slowly losing money.
I drove back home through the rain,
Thinking of Mike,
When thunder roared through the air.
Mom had just made a strike.
The next day it started snowing,
I guess my mom ate some food,
Because apparently she,
Had nowhere to poo.
She had also loved photography,
And about a week later,
A storm started up,
And lightening split the air.
I did some funny dances,
Put my hair in a weird up-do.
Because I know she was watching me.
Then I finally said, "I love you."
