Who Am I? (A Riddle)

I rush about from place to place
To find somewhere to hide
Screaming my soul's displeasure
To those whom I pass by.

And sometimes I am romping
Racing from pure joy
Chattering like a maniac
(Or every girl and boy.)

As the days get hotter
I'll flop down for a rest
And not a breath will stir me
Not prayers, not heat, not pests.

But a different kind of stillness
Is the one where I sit --wait!
Filled with fearful energy
For the summer storm, the bait.

Do I fear or love it?
This crazy life of mine
Is it fear or sweet pleasure
That sets my screams in line?

But still, when morning rises
I've never been asleep
Stopping only here or there --
Brief respites on the sea...

Secrets

The secrets that I keep. As I try to fall asleep. Are so many and so numerous. They prevent me counting sheep. They would lay my soul bare. Should they ever come to air. I sometimes get to wondering.

Pressure

The words they just spill out, From my mouth they seem to drip. If I stop, it builds up pressure, And it pushes through my lips. I can't help myself from saying it. It's not like I can turn it off.

Disguise

Tell me that I'm something. I'll convince you that I'm not. An orange on the outside. With the inside left to rot. An ever present cover. To disguise the world from truth. Walls on every side.

Paranoia

How must this look within your eyes. Do you think me of as disgusting, Or plain full of lies. What do you think of what I am. Do you think I terrible, and should be damned.

That's a good one...a seagull maybe?

Sounds a lot like my puppy... Love the sound of this riddle 😊

@BVHarding Good guess! Try again. 😉

@pianohuman Thanks! It's not an animal, if that helps any. I know i tripped people up by personifying it. 😜

The wind perhaps?

@BVHarding You've got it! It wasn't supposed to be extremely hard -- more of a poem than a riddle.
