When I first started High School, I was close friends with a very odd girl. She was a dirty mouthed foster child who only dated gays, and no one really liked her. She paraded around, swearing at teachers and eating bacon in class like nobody was watching. But she was a completely different person to me and my friends, but most of them didn't like her either. She had a crush on me, but became uninterested when she discovered I wasn't gay. She never studied in class and was always being excluded and sent to inclusion, but was somehow in the same class as me, which means she was also really smart, one of the smartest in the school. Constantly being fostered by friends and distant relatives, she often attempted suicide, but was always distracted by something. She always talked to me about suicide as though her life didn't matter, and I had to talk her out of it more than once. I told her in the only way she would understand not to do it and it always made her laugh. I would say something like "well that would be stupid, how do you think I'd feel? Not to mention the person who'd have to clean it up. Besides, it's not like you're worth all the attention you'd be getting, it'd be like cheating." That always took her mind off things and I said it with a smile, but always had a racing heart and a sick twisting in my stomach. I knew that was the only way to stop her, you'd have to know her to understand. It worked, as well. She made friends with some other students and even started dating my bisexual best friend, which I found a bit awkward. I still don't know what happened to her after all this time. Her foster family couldn't stand her and sent her far away. She said they were even considering Egypt or America. I know she's still alive now and I also know I played a big part in it, maybe I'll meet her again. Life is too short to worry about the bad things, you should always focus on the good and forget those who try to make your life miserable.
