Please don't kill the butterflies,
They're only ink, I know,
But they all stand for much, much more,
Each one is in the know.

Please don't kill the butterflies,
Not water, knife or pin,
Please, don't let them touch the name,
That's inked in pen, within.

Please don't kill the butterflies,
They keep the scars away,
Painting every patch of skin,
I need to calm my day.

Please don't kill the butterflies,
I'm only four days clean,
Just leave the ink so my blood can,
Stay where it won't be seen.
