1--Ally
Ally's POV
I stood staring at him, breathless. The sun was just going down, right above the water. It was absolutely silent, except for the sound of the crashing waves on the beach just a few yards away from us.
James was staring up at me with his emerald green eyes. He was down on his knee in the traditional position, and his arm was outstretched in front of him, with his hand holding a tiny black box with a glittering, most beautiful ring inside.
I couldn't say anything...this was so...unexpected. I kept looking into his eyes, and wanting with all my heart to say yes, but knew I couldn't. If we were a little older, there wouldn't be a problem. But since he was a junior in high school and I was a sophomore...I knew it couldn't work. I had to say something, and fast. Because he was sitting there, waiting for me. Waiting for me to say yes.
But suddenly, a voice called out. "Ally? Come on!" I darted my head around, desperately searching for the owner of the voice, but there was no sign of anyone other than James and me.
Again, the voice called out my name. Where could it possibly be coming from? And whose voice WAS it? What was going on?
"Ally?" the voice repeated. "Earth to Ally." I quickly and finally focused my eyes on the person whom was standing in front of me. "W-what, Mitch?"
My brother was standing in front of me with a confused expression on his face. The confused look quickly evaporated though, switching to a serious expression. "Um....are you coming or not?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Coming where...?" He groaned in slight frustration. "To my football practice? School's over now, and you told me that you wanted to come with."
Realization flooded over me, and nodded slowly. "Oh, right. Yeah, let's go." I shut my locker, which had apparently been left open, with me standing there, blankly.
I guess the whole proposal-thing had been yet another one of my daydreams, and/or fantasies. I let my brother lead me out onto the football field as I figured everything out.
You see, James (the guy in my dream) was my brother's best friend. He and Mitch had been best friends since 1st grade, and here they were now, both Juniors in high school.
I had seemed to develop a huge crush on James when I was in the 1st grade and he was in the 2nd. Before that, I had seen him only as my brother's best friend, and ONLY that. But then, suddenly, I had taken him as really hot...
My daydreams definitely weren't a new thing for me. Ever since I had seen James in the new way, I had begun to have those dreams. But a proposal when definitely a new one. I had always only ever DATED James in my dreams , never had he actually proposed.
As I thought more about this, I realized that Mitch and I were at last making it out onto the field. Mitch went to the guys' locker room to change, while I headed straight for the bleachers.
The only reason I was here was to see James, in case it wasn't obvious. He and my brother had decided to try out for football this year, and somehow, they had made the team!
Mitch had been very curious as to why exactly I had suddenly wanted to come to practice for the first time, but all I had said was, "Can't a girl come to watch and support her older brother?" he hadn't believed me then, and I am sure he still doesn't now, but I didn't care.
Suddenly, in the middle of my thoughts, I noticed the team beginning to file out of the locker room, and onto the field. I instantly began to scan the group for James.
I finally came across his flawless face, and u felt myself smile. He jogged up to Mitch, whom was leading the group toward the center of the field.
Several of the players noticed my presence once they had gotten to the middle, and they began to talk to each other while occasionally glancing back at me.
James hadn't seemed to notice my presence yet, but he would soon, I hoped. I didn't want him to like, stare at me the whole time, but it would be nice if he smiled at me, or something.
I turned slightly in my seat, getting a better view of the team. I was going to be here for about an hour, so I might as well get comfortable.
