Are you a metrophobic?
I thought I was once.
The laughter, and shame...
My answers... I was a dunce.
I hated English literature
Surely not all poets did the same...
I believed they wrote from their hearts,
That mere ink was their game.
But no, I was wrong!
They wrote with terms are purpose,
"This metaphor means this"
"This alliteration means surplus"
Surely I cannot be alone?
Not all poets think their way.
I just write what's in my head,
And I will till my dying day.

My AS level English literature teacher hated me. I hated her, she believed that every word, every small piece of grammar had a message, a hidden meaning behind it. How many people truly write this way? Set out what they want in a poem, caesuras, metaphors, similies, and decide what each of these secret pieces mean. Do they not just flow? Is some poetry not just as easy as looking at it and saying "clearly this means this" there should be no need for why or because. Each person takes from it what they want to. It should not be forced.
Anyway, ode to all of those that wrote from their hearts and not their minds. T'is my rant over.
