Quotes, Lyrics And Reposting

Please comment!
What are your thoughts on seeing these things on your feed?
Do you enjoy reading shared lyrics and quotes, even though they have not been written by the poster?
Personally I don't mind as long as they are credited, but I still would like to see more original writing than reposts on my feed, which is why I'm picky with who I follow. I just posted some lyrics that I thought people might appreciate, and it made me think.
I know that @octopuss has some strong feelings on the matter, and wrote a great poem about it!

I have said it before, and I guess I have to say it again. The LIKE. Button, is for things YOU LIKE. Not about trying to get me to like your work. Or about getting me to follow you back.

The Average

So, today I'm home sick. I'm just not feeling well. But I decided, instead of just wasting away, why not try something a little different. I decided to figure out my average like per Opuss.

Shock

Nearly at 200 followers. Honestly, I didn't think I'd even get over 20. If I could thank you all individually I would, but this will have to suffice.

Like And Share Again

Another big push for the "Creative Content" movement. It's not hard. I challenge the people (you know who you are) who feel the need to use "borrowed matrial" to post something of their own creation.

Blogging

I have been using social networking sites for years. I have twitter, Facebook, Flickr, msn, google +, LinkedIn, the usual lot. I have found it a pain in the bottom updating them all.

I agree, more original words and thoughts please! (not from you I mean!)

Agreed! I can find "famous" quotes and 1/2 liners myself, I thought this app was for creative minds who write their own material. If someone I follow posts for the sake of posting I unfollow as it clogs up my news feed

I agree with both of you. I'd only ever post lyrics or quotes that I think are not so well know, even rare. I may include well known ones, but only ever as part of an original blog, if it fits what I'm writing about :)

@Pneumothorax exactly, I'd only post song lyrics that would inspire. IMO or use quotes in comments that I feel are appropriate. My only concern is copyright, as in, someone could take my words and use them without me knowing, I don't mind people using my stuff if I get credit for it.

I have been doing both. But only as I am a newbie on here and am very unsure as how to start writing my own words. I have had a go at it and so far it seems to be going down ok.

@PurpleKel87 I'm a newbie too, only joined 2 days ago! I just don't see that satisfaction that people can get from someone liking a well known quote they posted. Surely 1 like/comment on an original piece feels better than 100 on somebody else's words? X

I like reading original stuff but then sit there and think damn I wish I could write something that good. But definitely original stuff all the way

Gosh I know how you feel, some of the folks I follow are ridiculously talented! But reading original pieces inspires me to improve my own writing. Reading common quotes and jokes...not so much haha :)

@Pneumothorax I completely understand your point. I have many pieces of work that I have written over the years but I'm guess I am slightly afraid of what people might think of it.

The jokes make me smile, though not always for the right reasons hehe. I'm always worried that if I read someone else's work and then try and write my own it will turn out to similar to theirs

@Vicki But I think that can sometimes be a good thing. It shows that this App really works and helps talented minds merge and bounce of of one another.

Yeah I guess I never saw it like that, thanks kel :)

I agree with @PurpleKel87 It doesn't matter if it sounds similar or is about the same thing, that's how inspiration works!

@PurpleKel87 hey don't worry what people think, haters hate, lovers love. If people don't like it, so what, not end of the world, you might be pleasantly surprised. Also inspiration comes from all sorts of places, take a line from here and a idea there and make it your own. Everyone tried to copy the Beatles don't you know, lol x

Totally agree that would be nice if most people put up their own stuff, te same thing happened on instagram, people putting up pics they'd ripped from google. I really enjoy reading people original pieces on here though :D

Very very true :) xx

I find that I write down the smallest of things as they come to me. Evernote is perfect for this, as I can use it on my Mac or iPhone, so always have access to them, and can create pieces from

that, any time I like :)

I use Evernote too!
