Letting Go

As many times as I've tried
It always ends the same
Whether its breaking up
Or forgetting each other's names

Sometimes I find it hard
To just walk away
And other times
It's easy as the break of day

Emotions try to take over
And I just suppress them
Keep trying to make it easy
To learn life's hard lesson

It was only a short time
And then you let me know
In the meanest of ways
That I had to let you go

See I wasn't attached
I just wanted a friend
Someone who would be there
Through the thick & thin

Someone to talk to
Through the good & the bad
Someone to trust
And make me happy not sad

Yes it was a short time
And it ended the same
See you weren't in it for friends
You were in it for games

But the inevitable has happened
You see it's over now
Maybe I'll meet someone who can show me how

How to be loved
And how to be sane
But until that day comes
I'm letting go again
