For all who are, have been, or have lost,
the dark bridge is not one you have to cross.
But if you’re already over the hump,
stand up tall, do not slump.
Do not weep or loathe or mourn,
but feel as though you've just been born.
He shows Himself to us each day,
look for Him, He’ll guide your way.
He’ll lead you to a better state,
gracious you passed His test of fate.
Although you might feel a world apart,
once you find Him, you'll feel a new start.
Or perhaps you’re only halfway there.
Not much more your heart can bear.
Hurt and helpless, lost in the dark,
hungry and desperate just for a spark.
A twinkle, a noise, a helping hand,
just something to lead you from this land.
Time may push you to sanity’s edge,
but don't give up and jump off the ledge.
He wants to help you more than you know,
but faith in Him you have to show.
Until I saw what His love really does,
lost, hurt and unsure, I was.
Tumbling toward a bridge in the rain,
I was a Blind Man in serious pain.
I thought to myself, “this can only get worse”,
and then, sure enough, I fell face-first.
I hit my bridge with a thud and a cry,
but this time not pleading, “why, God, why?”.
Instead, I prayed to Him from across:
“Please show me the way You want me to cross.”
Faith as strong as the bridge’s threat,
a few weeks later, I'll never forget,
through such a shocking, profound event,
I found the answer that He had sent.
A helpless, blind man who was touched by His Might
gave God his trust in return for his sight.
A helpless, blind man near a bridge, so lost,
is now being guided safely across.
So for all who are, have been, or have lost,
the dark bridge is not one you have to cross.
