The Garden

[For my wonderful Nan, who can no longer be with me in person, but who is always here in my heart.]

I made for you a garden
Where lilac roses bloom
And in a peaceful corner
I built a bench for two
I planted countless daffodils
Which flourish all year round
And beside them there are snowdrops
That carpet white the ground
With tulips bright as rainbows
And lilies white as snow
There are summer scented freesias
Your favourite ones in rows
A place for you to be at peace
And never have a care
I grew for you an orchard
I grew peach, plum and pear
And if I could I'd visit
And we'd sit a while at last
I'd tell you of the future
We'd talk about the past
I'd tell you that I love you
Speak words I cannot say
I'd tell you I am proud
And that you inspire me each day
I know that I'd get sad
But you'd be patient with my tears
You'd tell me not to grieve
But celebrate your years
I'd never want to leave you
Never believe that you are gone
But as you'd hold me tightly
You'd say that life goes on
You'd flash a brilliant smile
And say before I go
I never really left you
I'm always here you know
And with you in the garden
We will never be apart
For when I made it for you
I built it in my heart.

When I'm Gone

Read my name on stone, forever here i lay. Look up to the night sky, i'm never far away. If i don't wake up, do not shed a tear for me. Decisions define us all, but right here i'll always be.

#adventchallenge You are a star in the sky, Dear friend of mine. I gaze upwards-see you shining, I never heard you whining. Been through a lot-my friend, I was by your side till the end.

Remember Them

When the autumn leaves start falling. I know it's that time again. To make my way down to the memorial. Pay my respects and remember them. The fallen, the departed. Loved ones, dead but not gone.

William

On the shadowed grey of this autumn day when our family's gathered in solemn pray. We've dressed in respectful cloth of black, to engrave farewell in granite plaque.

RIP Grandad

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain.

That is beautiful

Thank you :-)

A really beautiful poem-especially poignant to me because it seems to describe my own Nan perfectly. Thanks for sharing :)

Brought a little tear to my eye.

Thank you :-) I'm so glad you like it.
