Are family fell apart...
"I'm sorry, she's gone" said the head doctor. And escorted us to the door.
"May we?"asked dad, he gave the doctor a stern look.
"Dad?"the doctor shook his head and opened the door wider. Dad dismaying stepped out and I followed him to the car.
"What's for breakfast?" I asked.
"Well god made us eyes" said dad, he rubbed his eyes. I grabbed an apple and left earlier to school then usual.
When I got home, two people were at my house writing things on a clipboard.
"Hello?"a women stepped forward and inspected me.
"Are you Milly?"she asked. I nodded, and placed my backpack down.
"This house was given by Parker Stones to the science program. I didn't get the memo he had a daughter"she said, like it was a pleasure to say it.
"Apparently he fled and threw himself off a bridge, do you know why?"
"My mom died 2 days ago, but what would drive him like that?"the women wrote everything down.
"Thank you...Milly, we'll have you taken to a foster home first thing after the inspection"she said. I sat and waited until a woman showed up. She wore expensive clothing and had a prissy small dog.
"Ah Milly come with me"she said and gave me a smile before climbing back into the car.
The family was nice, who lived in a pretty blue house, with a white picket fence, and a dog named Checkers. Although it was 4 hours from my home, and my foster dad was the principal at a school 2 blocks away. It was a new school, I knew it.
"I'm sorry about your lost possessions we can get new stuff" said my new mom,Claire. They even had a room for me, it was as big as theirs, and was empty.
"We'll decorate, we wanted you to choose the design" said my dad, Harry. Claire worked at a big school for the artistically born kids. She told me, she would let me help her grade the art when she brought it home.
"Goodnight Milly"said Claire, I was sleeping the guest room for now.
"Do you have any parents?" I asked.
"Yeah they're coming to meet are foster child" said Harry. My own grandparents....my moms parents died when she was five. Dads parents never talked to him because of his "poor standings."
Claire's grandparents were nice, they smelled like sugary mangoes and peppermint. They were really excited to see their "granddaughter." I even looked like Claire. Same red hair, and gentle blue eyes the color of a peaceful sky.
"I don't approve of the name" said grandpa. Grandma was braiding my hair, Claire had brought in lemonade and butter biscuits.
"Don't listen to grandpa Milly, he's always grouchy"whispered grandma.
"Now mom" said Claire, she closed her book.
Harry came in, he smiled at grandma and took a seat.
"Oh can you braid my hair!"joked Harry.
I climbed into bed, grandma had helped me pick out the necessary bedroom furniture at the closet furniture store 5 blocks away.
"Night Milly" said Harry, he turned out the lights and left. I dug into my bag and pulled out my family photo book. I never went anywhere without it even school. It had at least two dozen photos. I traced over moms face, she was pretty. With long red hair, and the best gentlest smile in the world. I was named after moms caretaker. Who she had lived with, Milly had taken her in and let her stay in her house when her parents had been so harsh to Milly. Milly was the mom, my mom never had.
Claire and Henry cared for me so much it made me feel better.
Fate was a funny thing, that came swinging in on small legs. And writing your destiny for you...that was just how it was.
