You see,
It's always the girl with her eyes pointing at her ankles,
That catches my eye,
Because inside the bubble she creates,
She probably has the most interesting things to say,
And as long as you listen,
It'll all be ok.
And soon her toes won't be so interesting,
She'll be as confident as any,
And you'll know that you did that,
Inspired that confidence,
All because you took the time,
To just listen,
And to a degree you know that,
If you left,
She'd fall apart,
And be the girl,
With the interesting ankles again,
But there comes a time,
When she won't need you,
She'll be a different person,
And you'll be a prop in her spotlight,
And that's when you cut your ties,
Knowing that you're only holding her back,
That she'll be fine,
But be careful, because if you time it wrong,
You'll just be another crack in her shattered shell,
And she'll never look up at you again.
