Hiding away,
Back against the wall,
Corner of the room,
Ready to fall.
Your darkening shadow,
Streaks across my face,
I shrink to my feet,
Heart starting to race.
Your eyes are angry,
My blood is pounding,
Your face is crimson,
My love is drowning.
You lunge forward,
Arms shooting out,
Your mouth opens,
As you begin to shout.
I try to flee,
But you keep me in place,
I feel your nails swipe,
And your hands graze.
Twenty minutes later,
And you've run away,
Leaving me here to weep,
And hope and pray.
Bruises rise from my knees,
My delicate arms are swollen,
I feel empty. Hollow. Alone.
And my fragile heart is broken.
