I come home and Leeann's coloring at the counter, that's weird, Tak isn't here to tell her coloring is idiotic and childish (even though Leeann's a kindergartener and that's kinda how they are. Minus the idiotic part, Leeann's very smart). Sean comes from down the hall and smiles slightly at Leeann, "She's been coloring for an hour now, listening to your iPod." I gasp, "I have bad music on there, she can't listen to that," he stops me before I grab it from her, "I made a playlist of clean songs for her that's she's been listening to. I wouldn't let her listen to like Eminem or something, haha." I smile, "She looks happy," he nods, "Tak's not here to make her miserable," "Where is that bitch anyways?" "She left, Kyle told her if she didn't stop tormenting Leeann, he'd break up with her, she said she had every right since Leeann isn't her's so he broke it off. She stormed out with her stuff after that and we haven't seen her since. That was about 4 hours ago, Leeann was taking her nap at the time so she didn't hear them fighting." "Good, she's heard it enough. Where's Kyle?" "Working out in the basement." I nod, he's upset, I should've guessed he'd be down there. I kiss Sean and sit next to Leeann, she takes her ear buds out and smiles, "Hi Mommy, did the job go good?" I nod, "Yep, it was great. Whatcha coloring?" "Mickey Mouse, see?" She shows me her picture and I'm impressed, she's not out of the lines at all, and he's colored the correct colors. "That's really good," "Thanks," I leave her to it and she puts the earbuds back in, refocusing. I go downstairs and see Kyle lifting weights, I can hear his Linkin Park from here. Shaking my head, I walk over to him and take his earbuds out, "If I can hear it, its too loud, you need your hearing, Kyle." He smirks slightly, "Yes ma'am," I take a CD from my room and put it in the stereo, "Here, work out to this music, it's not so deafening," he smiles, "Thanks." I go into my room and close the door to block out the noise. My phone goes off and it's Kalie from the orphanage, "Hello?" I ask, "Where are you? Are you coming back?" She's whispering, the Director must've ordered lockdown on them, "No, why would I?" "Director's been insane since you left. She had the entire police department looking for you, but they gave up a week ago. She's been unstable and unpredictable ever since. Even the younger kids get beatings now, most of them try hiding under their beds like we did, but it doesn't work, she just drags them." I shudder at the memories, "Sorry Kalie, I've got a kid to think about. I can't go back there, plus I'm close to finding Serenity," she gasps, "Really?" "Yeah, she got snatched by a rival gang of ours and I've been interrogating people for two weeks trying to get them to tell me where she is," "I hope you find her, she was so sweet..." I almost smile at the memories before I remember what that guy said, "From what I've heard, they're treating her pretty bad. She's probably not so sweet anymore." "That sucks...hey I gotta go. But I'll try keeping up contacts with you ok?" "Ok, take care of yourself, say hi to Cedric for me." "I will, bye Victoria." She hangs up and I lay back and stare at my ceiling. I'll find Serenity, I know I will. Someone's going to wind up telling me if I beat them to their senses enough.
